Storage Hanwell Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Storage Hanwell to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Hanwell recognises its responsibility to uphold and promote ethical practices, protect human rights, and ensure all individuals associated with our activities are treated with dignity and respect.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Hanwell has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically, with integrity, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This commitment applies to all aspects of our operations, including direct employment, contracted services, and our broader supply chain.
All employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers are required to comply with this policy. Any breach is treated as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, or referral to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Storage Hanwell operates storage and related services. Our supply chain includes, but is not limited to, providers of facilities management, cleaning and maintenance, security, utilities, office supplies, technology, and professional services. We recognise that modern slavery risks can be present at various levels of the supply chain, particularly where there is low-skilled, temporary, or outsourced labour.
Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We conduct ongoing assessments to identify areas of our operations and supply chain that may present a higher risk of modern slavery or human trafficking. These assessments consider the nature of the goods and services provided, geographical risk factors, and the use of subcontracted or temporary labour.
As part of our due diligence, we may request information from suppliers about their own labour practices, policies, and controls. Where necessary, we will seek assurances that appropriate measures are in place to prevent modern slavery and to protect workers’ rights.
Supplier Standards and Audits
Storage Hanwell expects all suppliers and business partners to uphold standards that are consistent with our zero-tolerance policy. We seek to work only with organisations that share our commitment to ethical conduct and legal compliance.
We may undertake supplier audits, either directly or through third parties, to verify adherence to our expectations. These audits may include site visits, document reviews, and direct engagement with management and, where appropriate, workers. Where non-compliance or concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within defined timeframes. If improvements are not made, we may review, suspend, or terminate the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
Relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, site management, and human resources, receive training and guidance on identifying and addressing modern slavery risks. This includes understanding indicators of exploitation, appropriate questioning during supplier engagement, and the process for escalating concerns.
We encourage all colleagues to remain vigilant and to take personal responsibility for helping to prevent modern slavery within our sphere of influence.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Hanwell is committed to providing clear and accessible channels for reporting concerns about modern slavery or unethical conduct. Employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to raise any suspicions or concerns in confidence through our internal reporting mechanisms or by speaking with a manager or senior member of staff.
Reports will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled as sensitively as possible. We do not tolerate retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. Storage Hanwell is committed to continuous improvement in our procedures, risk assessment, and supplier management practices.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with our business operations and legal obligations. As part of this review, we consider feedback from stakeholders, changes in legislation, lessons learned from supplier audits, and any incidents or concerns raised.
Following each annual review, we will update this Statement where necessary and communicate any significant changes to our employees and, where appropriate, to our suppliers and other stakeholders.
Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Hanwell, who are responsible for overseeing its implementation and for ensuring that appropriate resources are allocated to support our commitments.
